Manual for master trainers/coaches to conduct their first workshop
Once you complete your training as a Master Trainer or a Coach utilize this handy framework for starting your first in person program. We highly recommend you begin your first program within 30 days of training while the material is still fresh!
Here is a brief introduction on how to conduct your first workshop.
-
In the first week, you have to identify the site where you will conduct the workshop and define your registration process for the workshop. You will also create marketing material to promote the workshop in your community.
-
During your second week, you will have to schedule your meeting with the Guest Health Professional. You also need to get in touch with your master trainer to ensure all supplies are ready.
-
Monitor your registration process and ensure you have enough participants for the workshop. Arrange snacks for the workshop.
-
Provide participant handbooks and start preparation for first few sessions.
-
Provide reminder call to each participant and ensure all paperwork is completed.
Week one (Day 1-7)
1) Identify the site for the workshop
Identify the site where you will hold the program
Confirm that they will have ADA compliant meeting room, easy to find bathrooms, and chairs with no wheels.
Identify where you will place the resource table and seating arrangements.
Confirm the co-coach you will work with- more expereinced coaches should be paired with newer coaches!
2..) Define your registration process.
Decide who will collect registration information and determine if you can have participants fill out paperwork ahead of time.
Touch base with your Master Trainer on these logistics and to provide class schedules if not already communicated.
3.) Create marketing materials
Utilize templates from Handbooks to create marketing material and promote the program in your community via a variety of channels.
Highly recommended- Hold an information session or session “0” to recruit and inform potential participants.
Week two (Day 7-14)
1.) Follow-up on registration process
Confirm how the registration is going with your co coach and/or Master Trainer
Ensure that you have 8-12 participants for your workshop.
2.) Guest Healthcare Professional (GHP)
Schedule your GHP by confirming the date they will visit
Provide them with the GHP Handbook (available from your Master Trainer)
3.) Ensure all supplies are ready
Touch base with your Master Trainer to ensure all supplies are available
If you are the Master Trainer- be sure to order AMOB supplies in time for your classes.
Consider having a “AMOB Box” ready to go with all supplies (handbooks, flip charts, pens, nametags, cups/napkins/plates for snacktime, etc)
Week three (Day 14-21)
1.) Monitor registrations
Monitor registration and refine processes- especially if you will rely on staff at a site to assist with recruitment!
Staff education may be necessary to inform the proper way for people to get registered.
If registrations are low- consider pushing out start date a couple of weeks.
2.) Arrange snacks
Get in touch with site or a local partner to arrange snacks for the workshop - refer to AMOB approved list for snack ideas!
Week four (Day 21-28)
1.) Provide Participant Handbooks to confirmed registered participants
2.) Confirm room set up details, collect materials for Resource Table
3.) Touch base with Co-leader for the class to start preparations for first few sessions.
Day 28-30
